Take a Tour of the Grand Canyon While in Vegas

A few weeks ago a buddy of mine and I took a flight out to Las Vegas. We’re originally from North Carolina, so flying through time zones and across the entire continental United States wasn’t exactly something we were used to. But, we’d saved up enough money after working for a few months to treat ourselves to a little vacation. Obviously, gambling is what we were headed to the city for, but we found out when we got there that there was quite a bit more to Vegas than just the late night binge drinking, questionable female escorts, and gambling all of our money away. We woke up early one Wednesday morning and decided to do something a little different from the typical Vegas experience before we headed home.

Through the persuasion of an ad we found taped to the back of our hotel room phone book, we decided to take a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon. Now, neither my friend nor I had any idea we were that close to the Canyon while in Vegas, nor did we ever think we would make the journey to Arizona to see the damn thing. But, we were in Vegas and we thought to ourselves, “why the hell not?” Around noon time we called a taxi to take us to the airport that the helicopter tours of the Canyon took off from and bought our tickets. They were a little pricey, but the tour lasted all day and for what we were spending in the casinos anyway, it was a good price. The tour was spectacular and we got to land right down inside the canyon to take some photographs. I recommend flying into Vegas and doing a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon to anyone that’s in that neck of the woods.
